About Cajeput Essential Oil:

Cajeput Essential Oil Australia (Melaleuca cajuputi), shares many properties with Tea Tree and Eucalyptus, both in chemistry and aroma.  Cajeput oil has a very sharp, sweet, fresh aroma that is often blended with mints and other botanicals to make lotions and balms for strenuous exercise.

Action and Traditional Uses For Cajeput Essential Oil:

Cajeput oil is antimicrobial, a mild analgesic, antispasmodic, antineuralgic, antiseptic (pulmonary, urinary, and intestinal), insecticidal, and can be used as an expectorant.  In Malaysia and other Indonesian islands, Cajeput oil was used for respiratory infections, headaches, rheumatism, toothache, skin conditions, throat infections, and sore muscles.  Cajeput derives its name from the Malaysian word for “white tree.”  Application:  Diffuse or rub on the bottom of the feet.  Indications:  Arthritis, acne, respiratory infections, asthma, bronchitis, urinary complaints, coughs, cystitis, stiff joints, toothache, hay fever, bursitis, headaches, insect bites, intestinal problems, laryngitis, dysentery, psoriasis, rheumatism, sinusitis, oily skin, sore throat, and viral infections.  Companion Oils:  Wintergreen or Birch, Eucalyptus radiata, Juniper, and Peppermint.  Safety Data:  If pregnant or under a doctor’s care, consult your physician.  Use with caution.  Do not use synthetic Cajeput, as it could cause blistering and skin eruption.  Skin test for sensitivity.
