Wintergreen Essential Oil Nepal (Gaultheria procumbens), has a very sweet, minty, spicy aroma similar to Sweet Birch. The natural constituent, methyl salicylate, is the common denominator affecting the scent of both Birch and Wintergreen. can be effective in many massage or relaxing blends, and blends well in mint and citrus oils. Nepalese oil is sometimes pink due to traces of iron. We take the extra step to remove this iron when present to provide you with natural, pure, and clear oil. It’s important to note that this particular Wintergreen oil has been Carbon-14 isotope tested for a 100% natural oil.
Action Traditional Uses and Indication for Wintergreen Essential Oil:
Action: Wintergreen is antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, and a liver stimulant. Traditional Uses: Leaves have been chewed to increase respiratory capacity by Native Americans when running long distances and performing difficult labor. Settlers in early America had their children chew the leaves for several weeks each spring to prevent tooth decay. Wintergreen was used as a substitute for black tea during the Revolutionary War. Indication: Arthritis, rheumatism, inflammation, muscular pain, tendonitis, hypertension, and cramps.
Other Uses and Application for Wintergreen Essential Oil:
Other Uses: Wintergreen oil may be beneficial for cystitis, acne, bladder infection, gout, gallstones, edema, eczema, osteoporosis, skin diseases, ulcers, and urinary tract disorders. It contains an active principle similar to cortisone and is beneficial for bone, muscle, and joint discomfort. Application: Apply neat to the bottom of the feet. Dilute with vegetable or massage oil when applying elsewhere. Add 3-5 drops to 1/2 fl. oz. of bath gel and add to bath water for soothing bath.
